The project is for the removal of the existing levee in the northern area of the park and the creation of a more natural terraced river bank, and to repair flood damage from the winter storms of 2005-2006. The work includes planted rock structures to collect sediment and deflect the flow of the river back into the main channel, the installation of willow wattles, willow mattresses and willow staking to stabilize the bank, the construction of a boat launch ramp and portage, family picnic sites, paths, interpretive panels, and planting of native trees and shrubs to create additional riparian habitat along the Russian River.
