  • Safe Swimming Saves Lives (Vamos a Nadar)

The Safe Swimming Saves Lives program (Vamos a Nadar), provides swim lessons and water safety education to youth participants while parents are educated in a community water safety training delivered in Spanish and English. The presentations teach parents and youth the importance of water safety, health, and a lifetime of physical activity. The pinnacle of this presentation is that physical activity, health and water safety can all be combined through swim lessons and a future of swimming. Upon completion of the 3-hour program, participants receive a voucher that entitles them to a two-week session of swim lessons at a greatly reduced price ($15 per participant). In addition to being water-safe, the program introduces youth to the benefits of physical activity. The Swimming Saves Lives program has been a huge success in Sonoma County. We have taught water safety and swim lessons to over 1300 youth since 2004. For more information or to register.
